Protecting the Environment

Evergreen Printing has looked into every aspect of the operation to make sure we are doing everything possible to protect the environment and conserve resources.

This goes way beyond using recycled paper and soy-based inks.

There are many opportunities (and obligations) in a manufacturing environment to handle materials and processes in a responsible way.

We follow strict environmental guidelines to properly handle materials, minimize waste and conserve energy.

Newsprint paper is available with varying amounts of recycled  content to satisfy the expectations
of you and your readers.  Recycled gloss paper is used on many projects and can also be special ordered for your publication.
The inks used at Evergreen are
certified by the American Soy Association.  This certification authorizes Evergreen to display the Soy Seal of Approval. Soy based inks are cleaner and make it easier to recycle paper.
Evergreen recently undertook a self-audit of energy usage. This resulted in a variety of energy saving initiatives to reduce power consumption.
Heating, cooling and lighting modifications all resulted in energy conservation.
The proper handling of plates, cleaning agents, fountain solutions and other pressroom by-products is a critical aspect of running a clean facility.
All materials handlers follow a strict set of guidelines to insure safe and proper usage and reclamation.
The process of starting up and registering every printed piece requires a controlled amount of paper start-up waste.
All waste is measured and reported prior to recycling to ensure each publication is run with the greatest efficiency.
